ARDNAMURCHAN - PORTRAIT OF A COMMUNITY BY GLYN SATTERLEY

£30.00
ARDNAMURCHAN - PORTRAIT OF A COMMUNITY BY GLYN SATTERLEY

This is a beautiful collection of photographs from the Ardnamurchan peninsula by Glyn Satterley.

Glyn's photographs explore the unique way of life of the small communities of people who live on Ardnamurchan, a scenically beautiful but rather isolated peninsula on the West coast of Scotland. He captures the enviable spirit of the place and the people who live there; their individuality, their self-reliance, their coming together to celebrate and have fun and their ability to adapt to the challenging environment they live in.

Nine new poems by Alexander McCall Smith written specifically for the book complement the photographs beautifully, and an introductory essay by Catherine Ghillies gives an excellent overview of the peninsula's unique geography and heritage and how it has come to terms with change.

It is an unusual book because it is a tribute to the people of Ardnamurchan themselves. Part-owner of Ardnamurchan Distillery, Keith Falconer, intended it to be a gift to the local people he so admired. Sadly, he died unexpectedly towards the start of the project, and Glyn was trusted by his family to honour his wishes.

Please note; All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the Peregrine Ardnamurchan Charitable Trust and will benefit local communities on the peninsula.
