AD/ 10 Years Old Release
This 10-Year-Old represents the first of what will become a regular release, increasing in volume as stock becomes available over time. While not yet part of the permanent core range, the Ardnamurchan 10-Year-Old will be released annually in limited quantities until consistency allows for a full core expression, following a similar path to that of the original Single Malt released in 2020.
The first batch of the Ardnamurchan 10-Year-Old is bottled at 46.8% ABV, non-chill filtered, and of natural colour.
This whisky is composed primarily of Bourbon barrel matured spirit (98%), complemented by a small portion of Sherry casks (2%) to add depth and richness. The spirit itself is a well-balanced mix of unpeated (52%) and peated (48%) whisky, combining the clean sweetness and vanilla tones from Bourbon maturation with subtle sherry influence and a measured touch of smoke for complexity and harmony.
The nose opens with coconut, oat biscuits, and zesty orange peel, layered with salty sea air, bonfire leaves, and a hint of strawberry laces and mint. The palate is rich and creamy, with custard creams, vanilla wafer, brine, and earthy smoke. A lingering, smoky, maritime warmth defines the finish.
AD/ SINGLE CASK
Ardnamurchan operates differently than many distilleries when it comes to blending. Rather than having a “Master Blender”, we have a six-person blending team that decides collectively on every drop that we put into a bottle to send around the globe.
When the blending team noses a sample of a particularly characterful cask, we sometimes will pull the cask aside and designate it as worthy of a single cask bottling. We package dozens of these single cask bottlings every year, entirely matured in one cask and typically bottled at natural cask strength, thereby hearkening back to our Adelphi roots as a single-cask, cask-strength bottler.
Although every cask’s whisky will be unique, each will retain distinct traits of AD single malt whisky. The opaque slate blue bottle which denotes a single cask offers a subtle homage to the Ardnamurchan peninsula, emulating the similar colour of the volcanic rock surrounding the distillery.
We offer these special bottlings to countries, regions, supply chain partners, or whisky clubs that have proven themselves particularly committed to spreading the word of Ardnamurchan whisky through sales of our core range.
MACLEAN'S NOSE
Maclean’s Nose is our traditional blended scotch whisky, with some modern twists, and takes its name both from the Maclean’s Nose landmark on the Ardnamurchan peninsula and from the whisky legend Charles Maclean, who has acted as a guide and mentor to us over the years.
Maclean’s Nose has a high malt content of 70% and a significant presence of ex-sherry casks, which imparts a rich depth of flavour. Expect the delightful interplay of burnt citrus peel, invigorating sea salt, indulgent white chocolate and the smoky essence of a bonfire by the beach. As with our single malts, our Maclean’s Nose blended whisky is unchill filtered and of natural colour.
ABV: 46%
